The client’s brief was to look at two concept design schemes for the redevelopment of the Phibsborough Shopping Centre and adjoining site which encompasses the unused east terrace to Dalymount Park.

Scheme 01 proposed to retain the buildings on the site on long term leases and Scheme 02 proposed to demolish all buildings within the site.

Both schemes for the Phibsborough Shopping Centre Redevelopment propose a high quality mixed-use development which include retail, residential, offices, leisure and car parking. There are a number of different underpinning aspects to the overall design concept; The new development respects the distinct Victorian character of the surroundings while extending the building line along the Phbsborough road to create an active street frontage. The development provides the opportunity to create a much needed architecturally designed civic plaza at the heart of the proposal. The development improves the connectivity between Dalymount Park and the new civic space.
